Yesterday I spent seven hours at the Kentucky Annual Conference offices in Crestwood, Kentucky. I am the chairman of the new KAC Camp & Retreat Team. I met with David Sparks, the KAC Ministries with Young People staff person, and the directors of three of our four camps. My first response to being made chairman of a new team at the conference level was, "Oh boy! Another layer of bureaucracy!" But, as I’ve reflected on the purpose of the Camp & Retreat Ministries, I think it will be a good thing. Since the merger of the Louisville Conference and Kentucky Conference in 1996, we’ve really not thought through how best to support and promote the four different camps: Aldersgate, Loucon, Kavanaugh, and Ruggles. I know all the directors and they are all quality leaders who have great visions and dreams for their individual ministries and what the Conference needs is a comprehensive vision for how to boost attendance and effectiveness of these ministries. Anyway, it’s going to be a fun four years! I’m looking forward to getting to know the camps better and seeing what God does when we work together as one team with one purpose.

I’m Chris

Welcome to Flourishing Life, a space designed to help you pursue the abundant life God offers everyone. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (ESV). I’m convinced God created the world for flourishing human life. However, we’ve all contributed to the brokenness in the world and our own lives. Many don’t even realize a better way is possible. My hope for this blog is that you’ll discover the life God has always intended for you, the ones you love, and the world.
