“The excitement of learning separates youth from old age. As long as you’re learning you’re not old.” – Rosalyn S. Yalow
Summer’s here. School’s out. If you have children at home, you know this leads to all kinds of joys and challenges. For most kids, this is a fun time. But eventually, summer is going to wear on them. They’re going to become bored. Secretly (or openly) they will long for school to begin again.
Life can sometimes become boring. Simply existing day to day can become routine and tedious. Life doesn’t have to be like this. Life can continually be filled with excitement and joy. The choice is ours and a significant part of that choice is about learning.
Am I learning new things? Am I reading? What am I reading? Is what I’m reading for “escape” or is it for challenge? Am I placing myself in new situations that call for an attainment of new skills or a refinement of existing ones? Learning is one of the biggest keys to a fulfilling, satisfying life.
God created us with an enormous capacity for learning. I don’t think he would have endowed us with this capacity for learning if he didn’t want us to utilize it. So, what are you learning today?
