What If?

What if“Nobody has things just as he would like them.  The thing to do is to make a success with what material I have.  It is a sheer waste of time and soulpower to imagine what I would do if things were different.” – Dr. Frank Crane

“If only…” “What if…”
How much wasted time begins with these phrases? “If only my spouse were different.” “If only my boss were better.” “What if I had made a different choice twenty years ago?”  It goes on and on, and we never arrive at contentment and peace. The blame almost always lies out there somewhere, in the past, with someone else, away from me now, out of my control. Or, so we think.

Well, things are what they are. Have you ever thought you might be in your current predicament because God is perfectly happy to let you be there? Have you ever paused and, instead of asking God “why?,” asked God “What?” “What can I learn? What are you trying to teach me? What great blessing are you going to resurrect out of these seemingly impossible circumstances?” These are faith questions.

I can experience peace right now in whatever situation when I see the world and my circumstances through the eyes of faith. Jesus is alive! I am an Easter Person living in the power of the resurrection. If God can raise Jesus from the dead, he can miraculously move in my situation! He can deliver me… not necessarily from my circumstances, but in and through them, so I can experience his deliverance and power and learn to depend on him.

So, get moving. Get to living the life God called you to live.  When you do, you’ll experience his resurrection power.

I’m Chris

Welcome to Flourishing Life, a space designed to help you pursue the abundant life God offers everyone. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (ESV). I’m convinced God created the world for flourishing human life. However, we’ve all contributed to the brokenness in the world and our own lives. Many don’t even realize a better way is possible. My hope for this blog is that you’ll discover the life God has always intended for you, the ones you love, and the world.
