God’s Vice-Regents

“Stewardship – It’s not just about giving money, it’s about giving everything.” – Anonymous

The theme verse for the message series, "Trust," was Genesis 1:26: “Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.’” The word “dominion” is a Kingdom word. It means to rule or reign. God has appointed humans as his vice-regents in order to exercise his purposes, plan, and will in all creation. That’s an amazing thing to realize!

The vice-regent, or image-bearer, does not exercise his or her own will, but rather the will of the one in whose authority he or she serves. So the whole of the created order has been placed in our hands and we are serving God’s Kingdom with everything we are and everything we have. In this series of messages, we are considering how we use the precious gifts with which God has entrusted us, Time, Talent, and Treasure, for God’s will. We are Stewards of God’s gifts.

As we mediate on this incredible reality, I pray that we will more faithfully and fruitfully manage the God’s resources. We are so amazingly blessed and God wants to bless us even more and use what he has given us as a blessing for others so that the Kingdom of God will come and the will of God will be done on earth the same way it is in the realm of heaven. This is our true vocation.

I really want to say thank you for the wisdom, the knowledge, and the inescapable fact that we are so far off in our understanding of what we perceive as living and being on a daily basis in our independent lives till I agree with a prophet that a large majority of Christian will not make it into heaven. My prayers are for none to suffer ‘hell,’ but to that they should commit themselves to realizing that if one chooses to live for Jesus, that person has to and must at every cost choose to forsake their old way. The knowledge of how to live in the “WAY,” is available to everyone who seeks to know who Father created them to be. It is a fascinating journey to get to see the hand of God working in your life. I tell you the truth, you will not want to give that up for anything nor anyone.

Nice explanation on man’s status on earth – God’s vice regent. I was searching such a reference in Christian theology about man’s status on planet earth. Thank you, I got the answer. Muslim’s Book Quran also contains a verse in Surah Baqarah which confirms man’s status on earth as God’s vice regent.

I’m Chris

Welcome to Flourishing Life, a space designed to help you pursue the abundant life God offers everyone. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (ESV). I’m convinced God created the world for flourishing human life. However, we’ve all contributed to the brokenness in the world and our own lives. Many don’t even realize a better way is possible. My hope for this blog is that you’ll discover the life God has always intended for you, the ones you love, and the world.
